ISM
International Safety Management Code (ISM-code) came into force on July 1st, 2002, and states that through safety management systems, accidents that involve ship, crew, cargo, and the environment must be minimized. Shipping.fo is fully certified according to this code, and can thereby act as DOC-holder for other ships. The HSEQ department of shipping.fo assists in obtaining certification according to this code. Our experts visit the ship, analyze the requirements, then prepares a complete SMS-system, conducts courses for the crew, and assists in the certification process. Subsequently, the department controls the efficiency of the ship's QMS, both in way of reporting as well as both internal and external audits.

ISPS
The International Ship & Port Facility Security Code (ISPS-Code) which came into force on July 1st, 2004, applies to all ships over 500GT trading on international voyages. This code sets rules for ships and ports considering security, access control, etc. The HSEQ department assists in obtaining certification according to this code. Our experts visit the ship, analyze the requirements, and subsequently prepares the SSA (Ship Security Assessment), which is the basis for the SSP (Ship Security Plan) which is prepared subsequently. Our experts advise about implementation, conducts courses for the crew, and assists on certification of the ship, as well as acting as CSO for the ship. Subsequently, the department continuously assesses the efficiency of the ship’s SSP both in way of reporting as well as yearly drills and internal/external audits.

QMS
Shipping.fo’s QMS is certified according to ISO 9001:2015 and 14001:2015 thus ensuring that all processes, procedures, etc. are carried out according to relevant rules and regulations. Our QMS is online and is used throughout our organization to ensure the quality of our work.

Apart from using our QMS system in-house we also develop and implement QMS systems for external clients. Our experts visit the client's business, analyze the requirements, then prepares a complete QMS-system, conducts courses for the employees, and assists in the certification process. Subsequently, the department controls the efficiency of the clients' QMS, by monitoring the system, and by both internal and external audits.
