What we collect and why
Contact form. When you send an enquiry we receive the details you type in: name, email address and, if you fill them in, company and vessel or fleet, together with your message. We use this only to answer your enquiry and to follow up on it. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in responding to business enquiries and, where you ask for a proposal, the steps needed to enter into a contract with you.
Server logs. Our hosting provider automatically records technical data when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type, the pages requested and the time of the request. This is needed to deliver the website securely and to detect abuse. Logs are kept for a short period and then deleted.
Email. If you email us directly, we process the information in your email to deal with your request.
We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.

Cookies
The website uses only cookies that are necessary for it to work: a cookie that remembers your cookie choice (sfo_consent, kept for 12 months) and, for staff who log in to manage the site.
If we add statistics cookies in future, they will be used only to understand how the site is used and only after you have agreed to them in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time via “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page.
The website’s fonts, images and scripts are served from our own server; no third-party fonts or trackers are loaded.

Who we share data with
Enquiries from the contact form are delivered to our mailbox and stored in our email system, Microsoft 365 (Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd.). The website is hosted by Hostinger (Hostinger International Ltd., servers in the EU). Both act as our data processors under written agreements and may process data only on our instructions.
We may also share data with our offices in Denmark and Lithuania when needed to handle your enquiry. We do not transfer personal data outside the EU/EEA and the Faroe Islands other than through these providers, who provide appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep data
We keep enquiries for as long as needed to answer and follow up on them, normally no longer than two years after our last contact, unless a longer period is required by law or by a contract that follows from the enquiry.

Your rights
You have the right to ask for access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to our processing, and to receive the data you have given us in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time.

To use any of these rights, write to shipping@shipping.fo. We will reply within one week.

If you are not satisfied with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Faroese Data Protection Authority (Dátueftirlitið, www.dat.fo) or, for our EU offices, to the data protection authority in Denmark (Datatilsynet) or Lithuania (Valstybinė duomenų apsaugos inspekcija).

Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed.
